Adam Beyer & Julian Jeweils

Adam Beyer’s much awaited “Explorer Vol.1” album—his first full-length in 23 years is now upon us. Buzz and praise have been building since the LPs eponymous first single, “Explorer,” which dropped in March, and the well-received “Hypnotic,” a partnership with budding producer HNTR feat. Kyozo. They range from the 12,000 person Drumcode event at Drumsheds (featuring Adam Beyer b2b Vintage Culture) a wild Drumcode Pop up party in London to Beyer’s, two billboards in Leicester Square and Stratford honoring his takeover of Spotifys Techno State playlist. Most recently, Beyer linked with Layton Giordani for the divine Alto and dropped his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix since 2006, minting his first cooperation with Chris Avantgarde with the praised widescreen production Desolate Lands

Beyer’s first cooperation with French staple Julian Jeweil, “Loca,” (stream it here) is the most recent album focus track. While connecting with the powerful Drumcode sound that defined the 2010s, the track pulses with traditional skool vigour. A traditional heads down techno roller perfectly matches some of the more crossover tracks on the albums.

“Julien sent me a track and asked if I wanted to jump on it. I reworked it into something that throws back to the older, bigger drum kit sounds from 5–8 years ago. It’s a drum workout with real mixability, energy, and a screaming vocal sample that gives it character. Reminds me of early Laurent Garnier stuff.” – Adam Beyer

Nas

Nas, Ownership Over Clout, And The Blueprint For Generational Wealth

Shon Murdock

In hip-hop, wealth has often been measured in visible success, diamond chains, foreign cars, and sold-out arenas. But real power has always lived somewhere quieter, in ownership. Few artists have embodied that evolution more strategically than Nas, a lyricist who turned street poetry into boardroom leverage and transformed rap earnings into generational equity. From the […]

Solarstone And Susie Ledge Release New Single-“Haunt Me”

Tim Stark

Bold prediction perhaps, but we’ll say it anyway: “Haunt Me”‘s a one-and-done — the kind of record that locks you in on first listen and plays on loop in the mind, long after the speakers have gone quiet. In that instant catch, there’s a certain irony too, as, for the first time in his career, […]

Christian Burns Releases Darker Days (Original & Avenue One Mixes)

Tim Stark

From the forward-looking, Jan-hopeful lean of his most recent single “Fall To You,” Christian Burns moves onto the slightly less sanguine sounding “Darker Days.” After all, every lighter yin must result in some shadowy yang, right?? Well not necessarily, as “sounding” is very much the operative word here, as once again Christian delivers the electronic […]

Ciaran McAuley Announces New Album “Finding Me”

Tim Stark

Ironically perhaps, owes its existence to a period of profound creative doubt on Ciaran McAuley’s behalf. After years of forward momentum, the Irish artist found himself questioning not only his own direction, but his relationship with music itself. At that crossroads, rather than forcing (what now only had the appearance of) progress, he chose to […]
