Paramount+ will only stream Stans, an Eminem-produced documentary on obsessive fandom, starting August 26. Through interviews and historical footage, Emmy-winning director Steven Leckart‘s film explores the bond between the artist and his devoted fans. The film derives its name from Eminem’s 2000 song about a disturbed fan, which brought the word stan into mainstream consciousness and finally the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.

The UK, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria will have access to the film on August 27 following its release on Paramount+ in the US, Canada, Latin America, and Brazil on August 26. On October 3 Japan will stream the film.

Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg‘s offshoot film and TV production firm Shady Films teamed with DIGA Studios and Fuqua Films on the endeavor. Antoine Fuqua, proprietor of Fuqua Films, brings expertise from hit films including The Magnificent Seven, The Equalizer, and Brooklyn’s Finest

Former MTV executive Tony DiSanto‘s DIGA Studios has created a collection including shows such as Teen Wolf and Hot Ones: The Game Show. Under MTV Entertainment Studios, executive producers Bruce Gillmer, Amanda Culkowski, and Michael Maniaci also work on the manufacturing team.

Earlier this year, the documentary debuted at SXSW London before a New York showing at Pier 17 on August 6 with a surprise Eminem cameo.

With 164 million copies sold worldwide and more than 110 billion streams across channels, Eminem is the most streamed artist. Data from Nielsen SoundScan indicate that Eminem’s album sales in the US alone totaled 32.2 million during the 2000s

On July 12, 2024, his most recent album, The Death of Slim Shady, came out. This was his 11th consecutive studio album to reach the top spot on the Billboard Top 200.
