The 31st edition of Sónar brings together dance music pioneers and hyperlocal microscenes,
with a dose of radical aesthetics and groundbreaking staging. It’s also a celebration of the diversity
of genres and sub-genres that define the sound of electronic music in 2024: from ambient to
drum ’n’ bass; from happy hardcore to post-punk; taking in black metal, deconstructed club,
memecore, gabber, and hyperpop.

The lineup includes major artists like Air, Paul Kalkbrenner, Charlotte de Witte, Sevdaliza, Jessie
Ware, Kaytranada, Laurent Garnier, Ben Böhmer, Vince Staples, Folamour, CASISDEAD,
Adriatique, VTSS, Richie Hawtin, Olof Dreijer & Diva Cruz, Kerri Chandler, Floating Points
,
plus many more.

But Sónar 2024 goes beyond household names, with a diverse selection of international and Spanish
acts. Live performances from Aïsha Devi, Marie Davidson, Soto Asa, Yerai Cortés, Judeline,
Loraine James, Kabeaushé, Iceboy Violet & Nueen, pablopablo, Lee Gamble & Candela Capitán,

plus radical collectives including ASIANDOPEBOYS, BLEX, Club Cringe, and TORO.

Sónar+D, the festival’s meeting of digital innovation and creativity – integrated into Sónar by Day

addresses the mass-adoption of Artificial Intelligence, examining how it’s shaping the present
and future of the creative industries. Kicking off with an inaugural conference entitled ‘Generating
Panic?’, the implications – dangers, opportunities, and questions – of the use of AI in the arts and
creative industries will take centre stage. There’ll be further analysis throughout the weekend with
a series of debates, forums, talks and performances, featuring artists Marta Verde and Nicole
L’Huillier, researcher Sasha Costanza-Chock (presented by SEIDOR), legal expert Micaela
Mantegna, plus representatives from creative agencies Superblue and Moment Factory, plus
curators from TED, The Conference, OFFF, and A MAZE, and many others.

During Sónar Week, Barcelona once again transforms into the global capital of electronic music
and digital culture. Alongside Sónar by Day, Sónar by Night, and Sónar+D; OFFSónar, THE CUBE,
+RAIN Film Festival, and SonarMies bring over 350 different activities, and more than 150,000
attendees, to the city.

This year’s program is made possible through various collaborations. Among them are AI & Music,
powered by S+T+ARTS; the TIMES (The Independent Movement for the Electronic Scenes)
project in collaboration with nine other European festivals; the +RAIN Film Festival dedicated
to cinema made with AI, organised together with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra; THE CUBE in
collaboration with Casa Batlló; a new immersive visual arts space dedicated to Catalan talent
promoted by the Direcció General d’Innovació i Cultura Digital; and Project Area, the Sónar+D
exhibition area supported by Fundació Banc Sabadell. Plus there’s a new collaboration at Sónar by
Night, with an updated SonarLab x Printworks stage that brings the essence of the much-missed
London venue to Spain for the first time.
