Victor Ruiz

Victor Ruiz continues the unfolding narrative of his forthcoming debut album “VICTOR” with the release of “Sundance,” a new single created in collaboration with legendary Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell. Arriving as the third release from the LP ahead of its full launch on July 10 via VOLTA, the record marks another striking turn away from the Brazilian artist’s long-established techno foundations and deeper into a world shaped by emotion, memory and transformation.

Rather than focusing on stillness or isolation as in the previously-released “Silence” and “Alone,” “Sundance” represents the first clear turning point in the album’s journey. It marks the moment where the narrative moves out of introspection and begins to open up into something more hopeful and expansive. In the context of “VICTOR,” it is the point where perspective changes – where the story starts to move toward clarity, connection and emotional release after a period of inner confrontation.

For Victor, the collaboration with Perry Farrell carries a particularly personal weight. Growing up immersed in rock music long before electronic music entered his life, Farrell’s presence on the record directly reconnects Ruiz with the artists and sounds that first shaped his emotional relationship with music. That sense of rediscovery runs throughout the entirety of “Sundance,” which feels less like a club track and more like an emotional release – uplifting, euphoric and completely unguarded in its intent.

Sonically, the record moves into expansive melodic territory, trading tension and restraint for warmth and momentum. Glowing synth work, soaring vocal lines and fluid percussion combine to create something hopeful and immediate, while still retaining the cinematic depth that defines the wider world of “VICTOR.” Perry Farrell’s unmistakable vocal delivery sits at the centre of the track, adding a human vulnerability that elevates its feeling of openness and escape.

Set for release on July 10, “VICTOR” continues to reveal itself as Ruiz’s most ambitious and personal body of work to date. Across 14 inter-connected tracks, including collaborations with the likes of Perry Farrell, Echo Romeo, Luke Cusato, Enrico Minelli, Tao Andra and Ram Dass, the album traces an evolving journey through isolation, awakening, confrontation and transformation.

With “Sundance,” that journey reaches its first true moment of transcendence.

Frankyeffe – Out Of This World EP

Tim Stark

Frankyeffe’s calling it an “EP”, though others might argue it’s closer to a full album. Waking Up In A Northern Town by Christian Burns

Tim Stark

There’s been a long tradition of musicians from the north of England honouring their origins through their recordings – one that dates back as far as The Beatles’ penning ‘Penny Lane’. ‘North Country Boy’, ‘Hit The North’, ‘Life In A ‘Northern Town’, ‘The North At Its Heights’, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ – just a few […]
