Verve Remixed: The Hits compiles 20 timeless tracks from the series’ archive, showcasing contributions from artists such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, and Astrud Gilberto. Notable remixes are provided by Diplo, Toro Y Moi, Masters At Work, Felix Da Housecat, Bassnectar, Postal Service, Jaffa, and Gotan. The album concludes with a fresh remix of Billie Holiday’s “You Go To My Head,” reinterpreted by Henry Green (pictured above). The introspective producer and singer-songwriter has collaborated with renowned artists such as Kygo and Christian Loffler throughout his career. He has also generated numerous remixes, but none as prominent as this one featuring the legendary Holiday. His rendition offers a warm and immersive experience, reflecting the song’s romantic lyrics.

The Verve Remixed series launched in 2002, inviting leading DJs and producers to select tracks for remixing from Verve’s extensive collection, allowing newer audiences to experience classic jazz and blues in an innovative manner. Established in 1956, Verve has collaborated with legendary figures such as Louis Armstrong, Roy Ayers, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Jon Batiste, and others.

This latest hits compilation represents the eighth edition of the Verve Remixed series. Previous releases have included remixes from artists like Moodymann, DJ Premier, Flume, The Orb, and Mr. Scruff. Each remix album has been accompanied by a companion record, Verve Unmixed, featuring all the tracks in their original versions.

Frankyeffe – Out Of This World EP

Tim Stark

Frankyeffe’s calling it an “EP”, though others might argue it’s closer to a full album. Fresh from his ‘One More Night’ outing […]

Waking Up In A Northern Town by Christian Burns

Tim Stark

There’s been a long tradition of musicians from the north of England honouring their origins through their recordings – one that dates back as far as The Beatles’ penning ‘Penny Lane’. ‘North Country Boy’, ‘Hit The North’, ‘Life In A ‘Northern Town’, ‘The North At Its Heights’, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ – just a few […]
