Maya Jane Coles

Producer, DJ and visual artist Maya Jane Coles announces the launch of Night Creatures – a new label and creative platform marking her first new music after a brief hiatus. Known for her distinct blend of deep, percussive club music and introspective sound design, Coles has long stood as one of electronic music’s most respected and accomplished artists.

The debut release, Night Jams Vol. 1, gathers four original tracks that tap into the core of Maya’s sonic language: deep, club-focused rhythm offset by late-night introspection. The EP moves between dense percussive drive and ghost-lit ambience, tracing the full spectrum of her electronic sound.

Each cut carries Maya’s unmistakable production fingerprint,  taut drums, ghostly vocal layers, and heavy low-end pressure;  a signature palette she’s honed into a sound that has defined her output for more than a decade.

From her breakthrough album debut Comfort (2013) and its brooding follow-up Take Flight (2017) to the boundary-pushing Night Creature (2021), Maya has built a musical world that folds intimacy and power, precision and emotion, into something instantly recognisable.

“I’ve always been a night creature, for as long as I can remember. When it comes to creating, I find peace in the quiet hours, away from the noise and chaos of the day. The stillness of the night helps me slip deeper into my creative zone. Then there’s the other side of being a night creature – the one who comes alive under flashing lights, DJing through late nights whilst the world sleeps. It’s that contrast between solitude and chaos, calm and energy, that’s always inspired me. Welcome to my world, all night creatures welcome to join.” -Maya Jane Coles

Her output,  from underground anthems to headline festival sets, from DJ-Kicks and Fabric compilations to countless remixes for artists like Depeche Mode, Massive Attack and Little Dragon – reflects an artist equally fluent in club culture and contemporary sound design.

Night Creatures represents both a continuation and a reset. A home for Maya’s next creative phase, it reflects an artist returning to form while carving space for new expression and independent control.

The launch reinforces Maya’s credentials as one of electronic music’s most distinctive and persistent voices.

Night Jams Vol. 1 by Maya Jane Coles is released 28 November 2025 on Night Creatures.
