What a line-up (and yes, you’re absolutely right to be excited)! The unmistakable voice of the “Concrete Angel,” Christina Novelli, joins forces with UK singer-songwriter Reigns (rightly renowned of course for her work with Carl Cox, Low Steppa, Benny Benassi, Disco Fries and others). And completing this stellar ensemble, none other than Johan Gielen, donning his Airscape cape to deliver a spellbinding rework of the duo’s “When My Angel Sleeps.”

The origins of the track lie in the autumn of 2023, where it took the lead on Christina’s ‘I’m Not Sad EP’, in turn marking the first time she’d co-owned mic, song and writing duties with another artist.

In a masterstroke of emotional elevation (and with more than a nod to the summer!), Johan’s tapped innately into the vocal’s feel and graced it with bass groove, shimmering sub-melodies and glowing atmospheric pressures. Tinkling the ivories, he lets the grand piano notes drift through its midsection, before wrapping Christina and Reign’s voices up in an irresistibly moving synth, pad and chord arrangement.

This “Angel”’s about to wake again! Johan’s radiant interpretation of “When My Angel Sleeps” drops today. Find it wherever the best music is streamed or sold. [blackhole.lnk.to/AngelSleepRmx]

Driftmoon – High Wall

Tim Stark

‘High Wall’ unlocks the door to Driftmoon’s Sōnnux Music – the new recordings home that Juraj Klička, and Miikka Leinonen have built themselves.   Following the duo’s reunification in ‘23, when Miikka rejoined as a fulltime member, the pair have been on the march, not least with December’s extraordinary concept album, ‘Moonstruck’. Now, with Sōnnux, […]

Frankyeffe – Out Of This World EP

Tim Stark

Frankyeffe’s calling it an “EP”, though others might argue it’s closer to a full album. Either way, ‘Out Of This World’ makes one thing abundantly clear: when it comes to midnight studio oil and full-throated clubland firepower, Italy’s Francesco Fava’s not a man to do things by halves. Fresh from his ‘One More Night’ outing […]

Push – Known Universe

Tim Stark

This summer, Push returns to the album format with ‘Known Universe’ – the eighth longplayer in his eminent career. That ‘known universe’ specifically is the hardware-driven studio world that shaped his earliest work. The one that Mike Dierlickx painstakingly reassembled in order to reconnect with the tools, challenges and workflows of his original environment. In […]

Roger Shah – Magic Island – Music For Balearic People Vol. 13

Tim Stark

Having stopped to smell the roses for a few cycles, Roger Shah’s hallmark music compilation series returns to streams, stores and shelves in 2026. Onboard, naturally, is its usual, impeccable prog/trance/house blend of melodic-tropics, harmonic sonics, castaway chords, beachfront character and seaside atmosphere. Ready to do it to the summer, before the summer does it […]

Waking Up In A Northern Town by Christian Burns

Tim Stark

There’s been a long tradition of musicians from the north of England honouring their origins through their recordings – one that dates back as far as The Beatles’ penning ‘Penny Lane’. ‘North Country Boy’, ‘Hit The North’, ‘Life In A ‘Northern Town’, ‘The North At Its Heights’, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ – just a few […]
