Kick & Bass Records Debuts, Transforming the Producer Community Into a Full Artist-Development Powerhouse

Kick & Bass, the rapidly growing global producer community founded by DJ/producer Westend (Tyler Morris) and partner Freddy Trier Christensen,  is officially expanding its ecosystem with the launch of Kick & Bass Records – a groundbreaking record label created directly from an established educational platform and artist development community. What started as a pandemic-era experiment in teaching has evolved into a hub with over 600 members for emerging Tech House and House producers, offering coaching, feedback, tutorials, livestreams, and now a full release pipeline to help members share their music with the world.

Morris first started giving one-on-one production lessons during lockdown, finding a true passion for helping other artists improve. That experience led to the creation of a Discord-based learning community that launched in 2021. In this space, producers could access tutorials, receive real-time feedback from professional coaches, and connect with peers worldwide. As the community grew and members started building careers, gaining millions of streams, and selling out club nights, one question kept coming up: “Where do I release my music?”

Kick & Bass Records was founded to answer that question. Unlike traditional labels – even those started by well-known DJs – Kick & Bass Records introduces an entirely new approach: a label driven by a vibrant learning community where artists can grow, improve, and eventually release their music within a single ecosystem. Morris describes it as a “360° cycle”: join the community, learn, get feedback, build your brand, level up, and finally release on the label when your music is truly ready. “No one’s really done this before,” Morris notes. “There are lots of labels, but there’s nothing that combines education, community, mentorship, and a release platform like this.”

From day one, the roster will have access to best-in-class industry partners, as the label is backed by renowned independent marketing agency CIRCA, which will be offering distribution and bespoke marketing and promotions services in collaboration with co-brand. The label plans to start with monthly singles as it scales up, highlighting the best of the Kick & Bass roster without overly restricting genre. While rooted in Tech House and modern, U.S.-focused club music, Morris stresses flexibility, noting that the label will feature everything from minimal-influenced grooves to catchy, more commercial-leaning house, as long as it reflects the sound the community has embraced.

ALP

The debut release comes from ALP, the Tech House alias of an artist previously active in techno, whose new single “Raw” is out now. Upcoming releases include music from June Wilder and Gotch, both of whom are already well-received within the community. Morris recently played the Wilder track out live. “I threw the June Wilder record into my set, and it went off,” he says. “It’s going straight into rotation.”

One of the most distinctive features of Kick & Bass Records is the built-in support system that surrounds each release. Because an already tight-knit community backs the label, every track benefits from an internal momentum engine – members who rally around each other, push pre-saves, amplify on socials, and support releases across DSPs and Beatport. “Not everyone we sign will have a big profile or long touring history,” says Morris. “But the community lifts each other up. That’s what makes Kick & Bass special.”

For Morris, the label is the final piece of a multi-year plan: transforming Kick & Bass into a full artist development ecosystem. From tutorials and coaching to feedback, collaboration, and now distribution, Kick & Bass Records completes the journey from learning to releasing – all within a platform designed to support new artists’ success.
