Ciaran McAuley

Through the Shelby Merry sung “The Party” back in January of last year, Ciaran McAuley began teasing tracks from his second longform. A dozen months later and that process reaches its natural conclusion … and in just about the finest way imaginable.

“When I Found You” sees him back sharing studio time and artistic space with Paul van Dyk, and after their first team-up (“Someone Like You,” for Paul’s 2025 “This World Is Ours” album), fair to say expectations are at an apex.

Popping now on floors, and plenty of goosebumps along with them, here comes “When I Found You.”

Through the instrumental axis of McAuley’s melodic sensibilities and van Dyk’s propellant architecture, “Found You” brilliantly reestablishes their creative rapport.

Clarifying around a recurring, nagging, floor-snagging riff, through the thrust of its floor-kinetic bottom end “When I Found You”‘s production presses its advantage. That single-minded drive is framed by steadily evolving melodic and harmonic layers, which widen its club space without ever tipping into excess. Dialing in sailing riffs and carefree atmospherics, between them Paul and Ciaran conjure another instrumental masterstroke.

Whether you be north, south, east or west of our big blue ‘n’ green spinning thing, your January needs this! Find it wherever the finest electronic music is streamed or sold (or spun!). [blackhole.lnk.to/WhenIFoundYou]

Setting the stage for the now fast approaching 2026 ‘ISOS’ season, Markus Schulz partners-up on a track with Dutch singer RYVM (Raffie van Maren). Driftmoon – High Wall

Tim Stark

‘High Wall’ unlocks the door to Driftmoon’s Sōnnux Music – the new recordings home that Juraj Klička, and Miikka Leinonen have built themselves.   Following the duo’s reunification in ‘23, when Miikka rejoined as a fulltime member, the pair have been on the march, not least with December’s extraordinary concept album, ‘Moonstruck’. Now, with Sōnnux, […]

Frankyeffe – Out Of This World EP

Tim Stark

Frankyeffe’s calling it an “EP”, though others might argue it’s closer to a full album. Either way, ‘Out Of This World’ makes one thing abundantly clear: when it comes to midnight studio oil and full-throated clubland firepower, Italy’s Francesco Fava’s not a man to do things by halves. Fresh from his ‘One More Night’ outing […]

Push – Known Universe

Tim Stark

This summer, Push returns to the album format with ‘Known Universe’ – the eighth longplayer in his eminent career. That ‘known universe’ specifically is the hardware-driven studio world that shaped his earliest work. The one that Mike Dierlickx painstakingly reassembled in order to reconnect with the tools, challenges and workflows of his original environment. In […]

Roger Shah – Magic Island – Music For Balearic People Vol. 13

Tim Stark

Having stopped to smell the roses for a few cycles, Roger Shah’s hallmark music compilation series returns to streams, stores and shelves in 2026. Onboard, naturally, is its usual, impeccable prog/trance/house blend of melodic-tropics, harmonic sonics, castaway chords, beachfront character and seaside atmosphere. Ready to do it to the summer, before the summer does it […]

Waking Up In A Northern Town by Christian Burns

Tim Stark

There’s been a long tradition of musicians from the north of England honouring their origins through their recordings – one that dates back as far as The Beatles’ penning ‘Penny Lane’. ‘North Country Boy’, ‘Hit The North’, ‘Life In A ‘Northern Town’, ‘The North At Its Heights’, ‘It’s Grim Up North’ – just a few […]
