Grammy-winning house icon and our Autumn issue cover artist Roger Sanchez has just released “Spectrum Refracted,” a six-track extension of his album “Spectrum” now available on Stealth Records.
Six tracks long and built from the versions that soundtracked his summer, “Spectrum Refracted” is Roger Sanchez‘s alternate take on “Spectrum,” the album that in June marked his first studio LP in twenty years. Out now on Stealth Records, the companion release brings together five remixes of songs from the original record and one new track. That new track opens it – “Feel Free,” featuring producer, DJ and Run Bklyn Trax Company / Liberate Recordings owner EMan. The headline remixer is fellow Grammy-winning New York house legend David Morales, who takes on “Canto Al Amor” with Aaron Sevilla and Kristen Knight. Roger reworks two highlights himself with his Flower Power remixes of “How Do We Say Goodbye” with Karen Harding and “I Don’t Wanna Know” with Spice Girls’ Melanie C, both played throughout his summer residency of the same name at Pacha Ibiza, which he brought to a close with part one of the club’s Grand Closing Weekend on October 10 alongside MK and LAEET. Dani Masi remixes “Temptation” with Low Steppa and Ragdoll, while the closing version of “I Don’t Wanna Know” comes from Serdar Guven and Ahmed Ahmedov – winners of a global remix competition run with Beatport, picked by Roger and Melanie C from hundreds of entries.
“These remixes and my unreleased track with EMan have been secret weapons all summer long – at my Pacha Flower Power residency in Ibiza and all around Europe. I wanted to share them with everyone in the way I see and hear them – like light refracting from a prism, changing the way you see it, these versions represent an alternative way to experience songs from my album ‘Spectrum.’” – Roger Sanchez
